What makes our course unique?

  • The course is structured using active-participation methods – we believe learning is most effective when our candidates actively take part in the course – not merely sitting and listening!
  • This course is aimed at those in sole-charge of children; therefore, emphasis is also placed on preventing accidents, not merely treating them.
  • The classes are taught in a relaxed environment and include refreshments (teas/coffees/juices, home-baked biscotti and fruit). The fees include a certificate, manual and training aids. We are able to provide handouts in a number of languages and a translator, on request.
  • We are the only training provider to limit our classes to 8 candidates (others often have 16). This allows heaps of time for questions and discussions.
  • All of our trainers have hands-on experience of dealing with first aid emergencies and specialist knowledge of basic life support and paediatric first aid. They bring the experience of their workplace, either working in A&E departments, Paediatrics or for the London Ambulance Service to every class they teach.
  • It is one thing knowing what happens in a medical emergency, it is another skill being able to relate this to those with little or no knowledge of first aid in a clear and simple manner. Becoming a brilliant trainer, takes experience, for this reason we only employ trainers with at least 3 years of training experience.

If you wish to book and pay for your course, please fill in ‘book now’. Please note, as numbers are limited to 8 candidates per course, we are unable to hold places without receiving full payment.

Experts in Child Development

Kitty Sullivan, founder of First Aid for Schools, is also a lecturer in Child Development. She regularly writes features for the press including a column for Montessori International, First News National Children’s Newspaper, London Baby Magazine and Baby & Me. She understands the stages of development and accidents which are most likely to occur at these stages. The courses therefore focus not only on how to treat an injury, but what is most likely to happen and importantly, how to prevent it. Committed to increasing public knowledge of first aid issues she also pioneered the UK National Choking Awareness Campaign.
